Rainbow Wags September 2021

Welcome to Fall!

don't let you dog eat oak leaves

Though the weather doesn’t really change for a while yet, we can enjoy a bit of cool morning air and some pumpkin spice lattes, along with some brisk walks with our dog or some cozy cuddle-time with our kitties!

Need a new sweatshirt or vest to make those morning jaunts more comfortable? New seasonal clothing is arriving at Rainbow stores now! Styles for work, school or just hanging out, there is something for every member of your family, from Carhartt, Ariat, Wrangler, Cinch, STS and more. Check out the great assortment of jewelry and accessories – bandanas, handbags, wallets, socks and more – that will brighten up the shortening days.

Wildfire Season is still here.

Recent fires in rural residential areas caused devastation in Lower Lake and Calpella, injuring a number of animals and destroying the homes of many of our neighbors. Donations can be made in several places to help those who lost their homes, and can be made directly at Rainbow Ag Ukiah to help those with animals affected by the Hopkins Fire in Calpella. You can call 707 462 2404 or come in to Rainbow to donate to this animal relief account. Get more information about how to donate or help at United Disaster Relief of Northern California (both Mendocino and Lake Counties).

Donations to support survivors and their animals can also be made at Mendo Shelter Pets Rescue – Donate through PayPal here: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/mendopetrescue or Donate through Venmo here: https://venmo.com/u/MendoShelterPetsRescue
Please note HOPKINS FIRE in your donation.

Fall can have hazards for your pet’s health! From ticks, poisons, fungus and even antifreeze (one to two teaspoons of the stuff can kill a 10-pound dog! Less can kill a 10-pound cat!), check out this list of Autumn Pet Health Tips, courtesy of Pet Health Network and keep your cats and dogs safe.
Read another great article on Autumn Pet Health, complete with a link to a slideshow of poisonous mushrooms, from our friends at Taste of the Wild.

Fall also brings shedding season for our pets. Stay ahead of the shed with a grooming session at Rainbow Pet, in Hidden Valley Lake. Ashley and the crew will make your pet shine with clean healthy hair, and leave that extra fluff behind rather than in your car or behind the couch. Don’t forget the little treat that your good dog earned while at the groomers! Give Rainbow Pet a call to schedule your pet’s spa day – 707 987 1000.

Trivia! Win a $15.00 Rainbow Coupon! All correct entries go into a random drawing. Last month’s winner is Linda Lutjens with the correct answer that chewing up the couch can be a symptom of separation anxiety in dogs! There were 38 correct answers to the August Trivia question – one of our largest groups yet!

The September Trivia question is, even one to two teaspoons of this can seriously injure your pet!
