Rainbow Wags May 2020

Want to support the local shelter, and get a fun piece of artwork of your pet? Check out the Humane Society of Inland Mendocino County’s Portraits for Pets fundraiser! Just make a donation of $25 or more and upload a photo of your pet. One of a team of volunteer artists will create a personal portrait for you! Artists range from 3 to 80+ years of age, and use a wide variety of artistic mediums. Donations will be taken through May 24 and the art completed before May 31. Take a look at all the wonderful art on the HSIMC Facebook page!

The clothing and boot departments in Rainbow, America’s Country Store are now open, with some restrictions. We are not allowed to let customers try on clothing or boots, and there are no returns allowed for now. But, it’s a step in the right direction and there is a wonderful selection of new Spring and Summer styles in all of the stores. Check out the new offerings from Ariat – fun and functional wear for men and women. Even if you’re sitting on your own deck, it’s nice to have a cool new outfit.

It’s Kitten Season. Fosters are needed! If you have time and can take care of little kittens, contact your local shelter for fostering information. Fostering saves lives, and acclimates the kittens so that they are ready for forever-homes when they get big enough. Don’t forget that Rainbow has all the supplies you need to care for kittens including milk replacer, bottles, crates and kitten food. These supplies can also be donated to the local shelters in the donation bins at Rainbow stores. Help a tiny one live a good life – Foster!

Rainbow Pet in Hidden Valley Lake is now open for grooming appointments. Walk-in nail trims are also available. Where is Rainbow Pet? This great little everything-pet boutique is right behind the new Hardisters at 18990 Coyote Valley Road or give them a call 707 987 1000. Stop in and check out the huge selection of pet supplies, feed and other small animal supplies. Need to feed an iguana? Rainbow Pet has you covered!

No one wants to think about it, but next up is fire season. Be prepared for power outages with a new generator, or make sure the one you have is tuned up and ready for use. Just call our outdoor Power Equipment specialist Thomas Prine at his direct line 707-234-4297 or email TPrine@RainbowAg.com for help selecting exactly what you need. (Call volume has been high – please leave a message and Thomas will get back to you promptly). There are also great Springtime savings on Husqvarna and Stihl equipment to help you create that 100 foot defensible space.

While you are thinking about fire season, make sure you and your pets are ready in case of an evacuation. Here is an excellent Checklist of Wildfire Preparedness for Household Pets, courtesy the National Fire Protection Association.

One great tip – take a photo of you WITH your pet now. This will help identify you as the owner in case your pet is rescued or separated from you during an emergency.

Don’t forget that all Rainbow stores offer curbside shopping during the SIP. Just give us a call and place your order, and we will meet you at the curb.

Trivia: Win a $15.00 Gift Card to any Rainbow store! This month’s question is, what is a good tip for helping identify your pet as yours in the event that you are separated during an emergency? ENTER HERE.

Last months winner is John Houston Jr, with the correct answer that Blue Sky Nursery in Redwood Valley is the local supplier of plants and veggie starts at Rainbow stores!
