Tomorrow, June 21, check out Bark in the Park, at Ukiah’s Todd Grove Park, from 9 AM to Noon.

Your pooch is welcome (on leash, please).

Save on Nulo Pet Food in June – your kitties will thank you! Nulo aspires to provide the ultimate in healthy nutrition for your pets. When Nulo founder, biomedical engineer and athlete Michael Landa learned about the alarming rise in overweight and diabetic pets, he decided to partner with nutritionists and food formulators to create a line of pet foods that focused on high animal-based protein and low carbohydrates and use low-glycemic ingredients to promote healthy body conditions. Learn more about the science behind Nulo Pet Foods, and save for the rest of the month of June.

Summer Holidays = Independence Day!

While the Fourth of July is fun for humans, it is not a favorite of our pets and livestock. NOW is the time to talk to your veterinarian about caring for your anxious pet over the Holiday.

While some pets need the help of prescription medications, there are also over-the-counter aids and behavioral solutions that can ease the tension. HomeoPet  Fireworks formula is a natural remedy that may provide natural relief for pets who are anxious about fireworks, gunshots, thunderstorms and other loud noises. Rainbow also carries Pawse CBD products, which offer a variety of oils, supplements and treats that can safely calm both cats and dogs. Combined with other care such as putting your pet in a safe, comfortable space and using masking noise (studies have shown that running your clothes dryer on the air setting, with a few shoes inside, creates an excellent mask for the boom of fireworks, as detailed by this article from Whole Dog Journal), you can keep your pet safe and less anxious during the Holiday.

Don’t forget, be ahead of the booms! Once your pet is anxious, it is difficult to calm them down. Prepare to have your pet quietly in a safe place before fireworks start, and contact your vet now if your pets’ anxiety and fear are overwhelming.

Our local shelters are at capacity and always appreciate donations and volunteers.

The Humane Society of Inland Mendocino County has a special request for puzzle dishes (also called slow feeder bowls), for feeding the fast eaters at the shelter. There is a HSIMC Donation bin by the door of the Ukiah Rainbow Ag – just drop your donation off and help out the staff and volunteers at HSIMC.

WOW! What a success for Pet Fix – Lake County! Their June event spayed or neutered over 200 pets in one weekend! Pet Fix is a volunteer-driven partnership with Clearlake Animal Association, SPCA of Lake County and Dogwood Animal Rescue Project, with the goal of offering affordable spay/neuter surgeries to the animal residents of Lake County. The dozens of volunteers, veterinarians and vet staff it takes to pull off an event this big is mind-boggling, but they are planning to do it again!
