The local shelters and rescue groups are overflowing with homeless dogs and cats. You can help in many ways – foster, adopt, donate, advocate. There are donation bins in Rainbow stores, or you can donate to many of the rescues right at the cashier station. Just ask!
Many of our shelters and rescues depend on fosters. Fostering a pet in your home gives them a chance to relax, de-stress and learn about living in a home situation with other family members, pets and activities. This in turn makes them more adoptable, and gives the shelter staff more information about that pet’s personality and needs. Many of our local shelters are outdoor, and the staff works hard to keep all the animals comfortable in the cold, wet weather. There are many dogs available to foster, from sedentary Seniors to perky pups, so contact your local shelter or rescue and learn about fostering.
