Rainbow Wags December 2018

Ho ho ho! Here it comes!

Are you done with your Holiday shopping yet? If you need some help and inspiration, come on in to Rainbow for a huge selection of all the goodies that your family – two- and four-legged – wish to find under the tree. From cozy pet beds, coats and sweaters, special treats or a new leash, there is something for all our beloved kitties, pups, chickens, bunnies, ferrets … you name it! And what about all the pet-lovers on your list? With this winter weather finally here, you can’t go wrong with something rain-proof and just-right for a walk in the storm. How about rain boots in a variety of colors and sizes, for everyone from kids to adults? Maybe a warm Carhartt sweatshirt, or jacket? There’s a big selection of outerwear from Ariat, Cinch, Carhartt and Wrangler. Don’t miss the gifts, home decor and jewelry either! Think outside the box … would Grandpa love a new Stihl Pole Saw? Maybe one of the new battery-powered blowers or string trimmers? Rainbow can even figure out how to wrap it … for free!

Need more suggestions? Check out the last minute gift guides for happy holiday gifts under $25.00, or under $50.00 for everyone on your list!

It’s raining. It’s muddy. And your dog doesn’t care! If you have a muddy mutt, the new iClean Dog Washing Stations are a perfect solution to cleaning up your dog without messing up your house. Visit the one at the Ukiah Rainbow, or the newly opened iClean now in operation at the Lakeport Rainbow Ag store too! Warm water, shampoo, conditioner and blow dryers … Your muddy pup will be beautiful in no time!

The shelters are overflowing with dogs and cats this time of year, and also seem to be overrun with puppies! If you have room in your life to help out, foster homes are needed for puppies! Contact Mendo Shelter Pets Rescue, in Mendocino County, or Orphan Dog in Lake County, if you can give a pup a foster home and some personal attention. You can also help by donating puppy food. There are donation bins at Rainbow stores where you can leave a can or two, or a whole bag of food! The Humane Society of Inland Mendocino County is also looking for puppy fosters, along with blankets, coats and beds to help the dogs stay warm in their kennels. There is a donation bin for HSIMC at the Ukiah Rainbow store.

Often at this time of year, we remind pet owners of the Holiday Hazards that pets might encounter. Here’s an interesting info-graphic about the cost of treatment that a pet might incur from these hazards! They are not all ingested – think about a sliced paw from a broken Christmas Tree ornament? That can cost $309 in veterinary costs! Click on the graphic for a larger view.
