OTRL April 2023

Shedding season is officially here!

While winter seems to be stuck here in northern California this year, our horses know the warmer weather is coming … someday! If all this rain (and even snow!) is keeping you from saddling up there are still plenty of happenings to look forward to – and get ready for! Riding season is just around the corner – check out these 12 tips to prepare for horse show, rodeo or trail riding season, courtesy of Stable Mix and Alltech.

Rainbow is all about our local communities, so we love stories like this:

Potter Valley trainer and competitor Angie Meroshnokoff shares her story of her NATRC Hall of Fame horse, Desert Reinbeau, and his success with Purina Equine Senior Active formula. Angie and Beau are local heroes in the NATRC community – check out Beau’s story.

I love Purina Active Senior feed. Last fall my 28 year old NATRC Hall of Fame horse Desert Reinbeau was slowing down and having trouble keeping weight with the feeding program I’d been using for years. After listening to the Purina rep talk at a local event in October, I switched him to Purina Active Senior – about 3 pounds a day. What a difference! He gained the weight back fairly quickly and has energy to spare. Last ride out he out-walked all the young horses!

Now until April 18, save $3.00 on Purina Equine Senior Active!

Regularly priced at $32.99, ES Active is on sale for $29.99 through April 18.

Chick Days will happen – but the date is still to be announced. We are waiting until the supply steadies out, and we can be sure to have a nice stock of baby chicks on hand. This year, the supply of chicks has been haphazard, at best. We will let everyone know when Chick Days are on the schedule!

Trivia! Enter to win a $15.00 Rainbow Coupon. All correct answers are entered in a random drawing.

Last month’s question was, Why would one need a current Coggins test certificate? Our winner was Beth Lambert with the correct answer – to travel across state lines.

The April Trivia Question is, how old is NATRC Hall of Fame horse, Desert Reinbeau?
