On The Right Lead October 2019

Fall is officially here and while there is still plenty of time to get out and enjoy some great weather, it is also a great time to prepare for the colder, wet months to come. For horse owners, that preparation can include getting in a supply of feed, cleaning up fallen leaves in gutters and around the barn, adding gravel to shelters and stall floors, and bringing in the older horses that will need extra care. Fall is also a good time to deworm and check your horse’s teeth, so that they can hold their weight during the more stressful season to come. Don’t forget to dig your Muck Boots out from under the bench, and have that barn coat handy by the back door!

Lucky for you, Rainbow is here to help! First thing, how about that supply of feed? Don’t miss the Fall Alfalfa Sale, October 21 thorough 27. Just order and pay for your big 3-wire bales of Alfalfa for only $14.99, and pick it up any time before November 24. Rainbow is celebrating the completion of their new Ukiah Hay Barn – It’s Huge! and will allow more storage when the price is right so that we can pass that savings and convenience on to you. So, all three Rainbow, America’s Country stores will be offering quality Menne Ranch alfalfa for only $14.99. Come in to the Ukiah, Lakeport or Middletown Rainbow stores between October 21 and 27, and order up your winter supply!

Where is that barn coat? The Fall and Winter clothing styles are arriving daily at Rainbow, and we need somewhere to put them! So check out the savings in the Clearance Clothing selection — Up to 50% Off! While you are in the stores, don’t forget the Ariat Yeti Cooler Raffle. Just try on any Ariat clothing item – boots, jeans, shirts, vests, jackets – and get a free raffle ticket to win a Yeti Cooler. There will be a winner in each store, and the drawing will be held on October 31. Get one raffle ticket a day, no purchase necessary. All you have to do is try on Ariat clothing or boots! There’s so many styles, you can try on something different every day!

What about those barn chores? The lawn covered in leaves, and the firewood that needs to be bucked into stove-lengths? Rainbow can help with that too. The Fall Outdoor Power Equipment Sale is scheduled for November 1 & 2 at Middletown, Ukiah and Lakeport stores. Need some power help sooner? There are some great deals going on now from Stihl and Husqvarna, including  the battery-powered chain saws and blowers that are powerful, quiet and environmentally sound! Learn more about what is available from Stihl at Rainbows Stihl Dealer Page.

Help for horses and their owners is now available through the Feed Assistance Program, run by All Hands Rescue. All Hands Rescue is accepting donations of any amount at the registers of Rainbow stores. Consider adding the price of an extra bale of hay, or sack of feed, to your next purchase. It might just be the difference between someone giving their horse away to a questionable situation, or being able to make it until things get better.

Know someone in Mendocino or Lake counties that might need help? Have them email or call Angie at All Hands Rescue. Vouchers for feed purchases at Rainbow Ag, Ukiah and Lakeport, are issued and assistance is available for people going through a financial crisis. Donations of any amount are welcome! Just tell the Rainbow team member at the counter to add a little for the All Hands Rescue Feed Assistance Program, and help out a fellow horseman in need.

Changing seasons don’t just mean fall colors. The end of summer brings changing pasture quality and weather conditions, which can impact your horse’s diet and increase the risk of digestive disturbances. Dr. Karen Davison, Purina PhD Equine Nutritionist, explains what these changes are and how to head off potential problems. READ MORE>>
