Whether you are new to breeding your horses, or an experienced broodmare manager, the anticipation of that new life, that you’ve been waiting on for over 11 months, is one of the highlights of horse ownership. One of the most important steps for the health of mares and foals is providing proper nutrition for each stage of life. Broodmares and foals both benefit from specialized feeding programs that are tailored to pregnancy and growth, from before conception, throughout gestation and for the mare, lactation and the foal’s growth. Here’s where Purina’s research-proven nutrition comes in. Learn more about your mare’s and foal’s nutritional needs in this series of articles, courtesy of Purina.
